The premise underlying Root to Rise is that people are the heartbeat of every community and the most critical elemental component of our culture.  How we treat each other and how we inspire another as we move through the community is the life-blood of a healthy and robust culture.  Inspired by the life of Bethany Root, who reminded us that our lives have less to do with ourselves than it has to do with all the people who cross our path.   "Root to Rise" is a stainless steel and aluminum kinetic public art sculpture created to inspire and remind Atchison residents that we can all root down in the community and rise up to let our light shine, and in doing so, we give everyone else the courage to do the same.
